"Three-year-old Rowen came down with a cold. She was mucus-y, cough-y, vomiting, & lethargic. Doctors said it was a virus and would run its course. But two weeks later, she was not improving. Her breath was turning shallow and her face began to swell, to the point that her eyes could hardly open. Two ER's later (after the first sent her home), she was diagnosed with heart failure. The cause is still unknown. She spent 3 days at CHOC before being medevacked up to the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital. Where she received a Berlin Pump as a temporary fix, and is currently awaiting a heart transplant. She’s at the top of the list. Rowen, is sister to Finley – 6, Seri – 3 (though not biologically Rowen’s twin, they have the bond of it), & Beckham – 3 months. They live 2 hours (sometimes 3-4 with LA traffic) away from the hospital. And while we are working on relocating them up to LA soon, it has been hard on Rowen, and us, to be away from them so much. The Berlin pump, while keeping her alive, is also keeping her confined to the hospital until a transplant can be found. Rowen’s spirits are low, it’s tough being denied so much (siblings, playgrounds, food, water), and the no’s feel endless in here. But her doctors continue to press firmly in, to be more up, to sit, to stand, to be the Rowe that we’ve known her to be. And I know she has it in her. They continue to say that she is the “sickest kid in the ICU”. Yet somehow our hope, peace, and strength that Rowen will come out of this whole, with her own heart, miraculously healed, will not fade. We continue to ask for all of your prayers and support of our little girl. We know that He will see us through. That He will provide, all of the healing that she needs, in His perfect timing. Bringing her back to bows and baby dolls before we know it."
