Linkyn Reischl is a Heart Warrior battling CHD (Congenital Heart Defects). She's been through so much. She turned one on 2/23/18, a day many doctors didn't believe she would ever see.

Linkyn has Heterotaxy with complex single ventricle. She is pacemaker dependent and will battle CHD for the rest of her life. She has 6 defects in her special heart: transposition of the great arteries, double outlet right ventricle, pulmonary atresia, ASD, VSD, and interrupted IVC with azygous continuation. She also has a chromosome disorder, 18p deletion and duplication.

1 in 100 kids have CHD, 1 in 10,000 have Heterotaxy. Twice as many children die from congenital heart defects than from all forms of childhood cancer combined. CHDs are the #1 cause of birth defect related deaths.

Linkyn has had 4 open heart surgeries, 3 were within the first 5 weeks of her life. She has had a LADDs procedure and a gtube surgery, too. She has battled sepsis twice. She has had several respiratory infections this winter, as well. Linkyn has spent 203 days of her first year of life in the hospital.

In April, she will *hopefully* get a full repair of her heart (a bi-ventricular repair). Her family travels from AZ to California for her medical care. She gets treated at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. Linkyn has two older sisters, Monroe & Quincee, who can't wait for their sister to have enough energy to play with them!

It's been a very long road and this journey is really just beginning for the Reischl family. If you would like to follow along with their story, please visit their CaringBridge site:
