Brynne and Kendall Moore are sisters living with Niemann Pick Disease Type C (NPC), also known as Childhood Alzheimer's. The girls were diagnosed with this rare and fatal genetic disease a little over a year ago, at ages 5 and 8 years. Both girls were born healthy and met developmental milestones. Around age 4 Brynne's mental development started to regress. During the same time period, Kendall started having troublesome digestive issues and within a year she was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease (which can go hand in hand with Niemann Pick). The devastating NPC diagnosis would come later for both girls. NPC attacks the mind and body can cause learning difficulties, inability to focus, slurred speech, loss of balance, abnormal eye movements, difficulty swallowing, loss of muscle tone, enlarged spleen/ liver and seizures. The disease is progressive and symptoms usually worsen until children completely loose the ability to walk, eat, and talk. There is currently no cure for NPC but there is HOPE for Brynne and Kendall. The girls receive an experimental treatment, a medicine given by spinal injection, biweekly to help slow the progression of the disease. Please join us in raising HOPE for Brynne and Kendall and awareness for Niemann Pick Disease Type C. #hopeforbrynneandkendall
